Progressive Academics

At Monuments the educational experience is completely customized to ignite a student’s passion for learning.

Progressive Education

Taking our therapeutic and academic model one step further, Monuments understands the importance of creating confidence in students by enhancing their ability to add value and relevancy to the world around them. To do this we have created a number of exciting entrepreneurial education opportunities for each young man that attends Monuments. With real-world experiences at the heart of our entrepreneurial training program, we have created an experiential “space” where opportunities will abound to learn how to create, craft, engineer, and develop an infinite number of projects.

At the heart of Progressive Education is the development of passion and mastery. Boys choose their track and dive into the learning process out of a desire to develop skills and proficiencies in a given discipline. As they progress, students find themselves confident in their abilities to perform, create, and become experts in something relevant.

Education Tracks

Digital Fabrication

Designed to empower students with confidence and competencies to think and create using rapid prototyping technology. Projects are based on learning the authentic application of computer-aided-design and computer-aided-manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software. The objective is for students to develop their idea visually so it can be transferred into data using software.

The data is translated into the latest fabrication technologies such as 3D printing and laser engraving to produce the prototype using raw materials. Basically, if they can think it, they can make it.

Outdoor Leadership and Recreation

Students with a keen desire for adventure tend to gravitate to this track. It provides a strong foundation in outdoor technical and interpersonal skills required by outdoor occupations and recreation professionals. The focus is to develop leadership competencies while promoting safe outdoor practices.

Learning technical skills of rock climbing, rappelling, canyoneering, hiking, backpacking, and fishing are all included in this track. In addition, activities teach students the theories of leadership, Wilderness First Aid, risk management, group dynamics, proper use and maintenance of outdoor equipment, and principles of outdoor guiding. Students also have the opportunity to earn their Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification – a nationally recognized outdoor medical certification.

UAV Design, Videography & Photography

This program was developed to introduce students to the increased opportunities, job demands, and creative expressions available using drone technology. Students learn the technical skills of operating drones, repairing them, and using the video and photography output created while in flight. Students take the footage and develop meaningful content including complete video productions utilizing the latest graphic design software. These projects are not only professional but are relevant and students begin to see how their learning can be used in their personal, academic, and professional pursuits.

Equestrian Trades

This track provides a preeminent “human-horse experience”. This process deepens students’ understanding of themselves required to master the basic principles of Horsemanship. Safety and knowledge set the foundation as students establish how to communicate effectively, recognize behavioral signals, effects of the stress-response system, as well as proper grooming, riding, and training techniques. These practices provide students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career path in equestrian trades.
