Students with a keen desire for adventure tend to gravitate to this track. It provides a strong foundation in outdoor technical and interpersonal skills required by outdoor occupations and recreation professionals. The focus is to develop leadership competencies while promoting safe outdoor practices.
Learning technical skills of rock climbing, rappelling, canyoneering, hiking, backpacking, and fishing are all included in this track. In addition, activities teach students the theories of leadership, Wilderness First Aid, risk management, group dynamics, proper use and maintenance of outdoor equipment, and principles of outdoor guiding. Students also have the opportunity to earn their Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification – a nationally recognized outdoor medical certification.
